A laser cut PCB SMT stencil is a thin sheet or foil of brass or stainless steel with a circuit pattern cut into it, matching the positional pattern of surface mount devices (SMD) on the printed circuit board (PCB) for which the stencil is to be used. By using the stencils, the solder paste will be transfered onto the stencil, so that the SMT machine will place the parts onto the PCB board.

Etched Through Fiducials Laser Stencil----- This stencil is used for manual/semi-manual paste application
Half Etched Fiducials Stencils--------Fiducials half etched will allow for the printer to automatically align the board with the stencil for screen printer is equipped with a vision system.
If you are manually aligning the stencil with the board, no need to have the fiducials half etched, you could just use any pad to align the stencil.
